Our Mission

Founded in 2010, Unlocking Doors® (Doors®) is a statewide reentry brokerage network that is committed to reducing crime through coordinated collaboration, partnership, public awareness, reporting of evidence-based data and predictive trends, education, and training.

Through our unique and nationally unduplicated Reentry Brokerage® process, we facilitate a smooth and seamless transition into society for all individuals with criminal backgrounds - whether coming directly from incarceration OR already residing within the community (both supervised and unsupervised).

By pulling together resources, organizations, and programs into one coordinated effort, Unlocking Doors is helping reduce crime by guiding those with criminal backgrounds to a future of self-sufficiency while addressing the ever-escalating fiscal impact to the State of Texas.

Our Vision

Unlocking Doors (Doors) seeks to reduce recidivism rates of our clients. We measure our success by comparing our outcomes to those of previously incarcerated people who have not utilized the Unlocking Doors program upon their reentry into the community.

The goal of Unlocking Doors is to achieve at least a 20% decrease in repeat crimes (recidivism) among clients, which translates to no more than 26% of clients re-offending (compared to the current recidivism rate of 32%) within a three-year period following release.

What We Do

From the client intake through job placement and beyond, Unlocking Doors creates individualized action plans for former offenders to successfully reenter society. Unlocking Doors’ proven reentry system combines community collaboration, education, and impact measurement to equip former offenders with the best tools to live a crime-free life.
